In veterinary medicine, various external fixation systems have been used for many years with great success. So, the ESF is particularly suitable for the management of various grades (I to III) fractures and periarticular fractures. The ESF allows management of open as well as closed to minimise soft tissue trauma. These favourable properties of the ESF, coupled with the relatively low cost of fracture treatment make these systems very appealing. The U-shaped external fixator UFEG® is specifically developed for veterinary medicine that can be applied for small / medium to large patients.
UFEG® is a U-shaped steel rail with an incorporated threaded reinforced plate that assumes the function of the connecting rod and those of the clamping mechanism between the pins and the connecting rod.
The thread plate for receiving the screw has many more threads compared to other systems. It is therefore less prone to wear and loosening. This configuration allows a particularly stable three-point fixation of pin and connecting bar.
Due to the different wall thicknesses of UFEG® it is particularly convenient.
